MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Freshman Nicole Hilton of the Wesleyan University women's volleyball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her stellar play in victories over Connecticut College (3-1) and Wheaton College (3-1) last week.

Hilton, an outside hitter/middle blocker, was instrumental in the Cardinals wins. She averaged 3.57 kills per set with an incredible .622 hitting percentage, while also averaging 1.43 blocks per set.

In a crucial win over Conn. College, which put Wesleyan in a three-way tie in the NESCAC standings alongside Little Three rivals Amherst and Williams, Hilton recorded 15 kills on a .565 attack mark. She also totaled seven blocks as the Cardinals won by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-9, 25-14. The following day, she registered 10 kills on 14 attempts without recording an error for a .714 hitting percentage, while also adding three blocks.

Hilton currently ranks second in the NESCAC in hitting percentage with a mark of .325, and is the second Cardinal to earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors this year, joining classmate Gabby Bennett.

Wesleyan is back in action Tuesday, October 25 and will host Westfield State at 6 p.m. in its final regular-season home match of the year.
