Volleyball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Colby-Sawyer and Husson

The Lead: The Wesleyan University women's volleyball team swept its doubleheader Saturday with 3-0 non-conference wins over Colby-Sawyer and Husson. With the wins, the Cardinals extended their winning streak to seven straight as they improved to 8-1.


Score: Wesleyan 3, Colby-Sawyer 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-20)
Records: Wesleyan (6-1); Colby-Sawyer (3-12)


  • The Cardinals played a very efficient game offensively and finished with a .283 hitting percentage as a team.
  • They cruised to a 25-13 win in the first set, before taking the second and third by scores of 25-16 and 25-20, respectively.
  • Sixteen different players saw playing time for Wesleyan, as Stasie Litinsky '20 led the team in kills with six. Madeleine Lundberg '19 and Gabby Bennett '20 finished with five kills each, Audrey Konow '20 dished out eight assists and Rachel Savage '17 recorded seven digs.
  • Naarah Cox led Colby-Sawyer with five kills. Olivia Goodrich recorded a game-high 13 assists and three different players tallied double-digit digs with Morgan Flynn leading the way with 12.

  • Wesleyan's efficient offense was even stronger in its second matchup of the day as the Cardinals recorded a .320 hitting percentage. 
  • After a close first set, in which Wesleyan won 25-20, the Cardinals pulled away in sets two and three with decisive wins of 25-15 and 25-10, respectively.
  • Nicole Hilton '20 led Wesleyan with seven kills, while Emma Robin '19 and Fallon Konow '20 totaled six a piece, and Mia Hogan '20 and Litinsky recorded five each. Kaira Muraoka-Robertson '20 dished out 11 assists, and Audrey Konow '20 tallied 10. Savage added seven digs for the second game in a row.
  • Nia Arranaga led Husson with five kills, Hanna Hembrow tallied a team-high eight assists and Sarah Wilson led all players with 10 digs.


  • The Cardinals are back in action Friday, Sept. 30 and will host Tufts at 7 p.m.
