Cardinals Compete at Open New England & Wesleyan Invite

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's indoor track and field team hosted the Wesleyan Invite on Saturday, while members of the team also competed at the 51st New England NEICAAA meet on Friday and Saturday in Boston.


  • Julia Mitchell won the 3,000 with a time of 10:29.62, nearly 30 seconds faster than the next runner, while Katie Maehl won the long jump with a mark of 5.09m.
  • Five individuals earned second place including Becky Velie in the 600 (1:39.58) and Becky Lopez-Anido in the mile (5:19.05). Maehl came in second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m, while Tara Peng earned second in the pole vault (3.05m). Alexandra Dibrindisi recorded a mark of 4.87m in the long jump, which was good for second place.
  • Third place honors included Sophie Scobell in the 1000 (3:17.09) and Sydney Forrest in the triple jump (9.73m).
  • Caelan Campbell came in fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.63 and raced to a sixth-place finish in the 100 (8.46).
  • Rachel Morrow crossed the finish line in fifth during the 400 with a time of 1:04.55.
  • Addie Thomas recorded a sixth-place finish in the 600 with a time of 1:47.57.


  • Ivie Uzamere came in third in the weight throw with a mark of 17.54m.
  • Jenny Aguiar placed eighth in the prelims on Friday in the 400m with a time of 57.45, which qualified her for the finals on Saturday.
  • Rhoen Fiutak raced to an 11th place finish in the 3,000, clocking in at 10:24.79.


  • Wesleyan will head to Staten Island on Friday for the Ocean Breeze meet.
