Aguiar & Uzamere Record Pair of First-Place Finishes at Little Three Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's indoor track and field team opened 2019 by hosting the Little Three Championship meet. The Cardinals came in second place with a score of 109, while Williams won the meet (143) and Amherst came in third with 100.


  • Jenny Aguiar placed first in the 200-meter (26.44) and the 400-meter (58.57) events, while recording a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter (8.24). Her 400-meter time qualified her for the Division III New England meet and NEICAAA.
  • Ivie Uzamere came in first in the shot put and the weight throw events. In the weight throw, her personal best mark of 18.25m qualified her for the Divison III New England meet as well as NEICAAA. She also recorded a mark of 11.32m in the shot put, qualifying her for the Division III New England meet.
  • Becky Velie clocked in at 1:40.44 in the 600-meter which was good for second place, while Addison Thomas earned a fifth-place nod with a time of 1:47.98.
  • Wesleyan's Abigail Pipkin came in second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:31.96.
  • Julia Mitchell and Sophie Scobell placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 1,000-meter with times of 3:11.50 and 3:16.57.
  • Rhoen Fiutak competed in the mile, clocking in at 5:20.14, which was good for third place and qualified her for the Division III New England meet.
  • Sara Pinsonault earned a fourth-place nod in the 3,000-meter with a time of 10:47.55.
  • The Cardinals' 4x400-meter relay team composed of Aguiar, Julia Cella, Alexandra Dibrindisi and Allegra Fils-Aime, came in first with a time of 4:03.87.
  • Maehl and Tara Peng placed fourth and sixth in the high jump with marks of 1.52m and 1.42m, respectively.
  • Peng and Shannon Sweeney earned third and fifth-place finishes in the pole vault, soaring to 2.59m and 2.44m, respectively.
  • Maehl earned a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.02m and a third-place finish in long jump (5.14m).


  • Wesleyan will head to Smith College for the Smith Invite next weekend.
