The Wesleyan women’s track and field team was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for its cumulative grade point average of 3.64, while eight Cardinals earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field team as an individual, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have me either of the following athletic standards. He or she must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 35 in a relay event.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Jenny Aguiar and Ivie Uzamere of the Wesleyan women’s track and field team were represented on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team, as announced by the committee following the conclusion of the regular season. The top-five individuals in every event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to all members of the region’s top-three relay teams.
GENEVA, Ohio – Senior captain Jenny Aguiar of the Wesleyan women’s track and field team wrapped up a stellar career competing at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship meet on Friday afternoon.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan’s Jenny Aguiar of the women’s track and field team will compete in the 400m at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship as announced by the NCAA. Aguiar is seeded 16th overall in the event with a time of 56.66. During an interview as a junior last year, Aguiar said she hoped to make the cut for the NCAA Championships this year, as only the competitive field only accepts the top-22 times in each event.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Wesleyan women’s track and field team placed ninth out of 11 teams at the NESCAC Championship meet on Saturday at Middlebury. Williams won its sixth-straight title with 165 points, while Middlebury (145.50 points) and Bowdoin (109 points) rounded out the top-three teams.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s track and field team will travel to Middlebury College for the 2019 NESCAC Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 28th. The Cardinals will look to move up in the rankings this year, as Williams hopes to defend its title. Last season, the Ephs won their fifth-straight NESCAC Championship and 25th overall with 200 points, while Tufts (115.5 points) and Middlebury (96.5 points) placed second and third, respectively.
HADLEY, Mass. – Ivie Uzamere of the Wesleyan women’s track and field team was named the NESCAC Field Performer of the Week following an outstanding showing this weekend at the Cardinal’s J. Elmer Swanson Classic. Despite being the lone competitor in the hammer, Uzamere broke the school record with a personal best mark of 50.98m. The previous school record was 50.70m and had stood since 2014. Her mark now leads the NESCAC and is ranked seventh in the nation in the event.

Albany, N.Y. – Wesleyan’s Katie Maehl of the women’s track and field team was the lone-Cardinal competitor at the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Classic on Thursday and Friday. She placed 8th in the heptathlon over the two-day span, finishing with 3,639 points.
AMHERST, Mass. – The Wesleyan women’s track and field team earned a fourth-place finish out of seven teams at the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday. The team also had two athletes compete at Princeton’s Sam Howell Invitational. The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday when they head to the Connecticut College Invite.

Awards are presented by the New England Division III Track & Field Coaches Association for the top male and female athlete in both track and field.

Aguiar qualified for the finals after finishing sixth overall during Friday’s prelims. On Saturday, she placed eighth in the event with a time of 58.09, to earn her All-American laurels.
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Ivie Uzamere was crowned the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Champion in the weight throw after placing first with a personal best mark of 19.36m. With the mark, Uzamere is just the fourth track & field athlete to win a National Championship and first ever in a field event. Her winning mark also shattered her own school record (17.45m) that she set back in 2018. The last National Champion was Ellen Davis ’07 who won the indoor 5k in 2007.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Six members of the Wesleyan men’s and women’s track and field programs qualified for the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday evening. The top-20 times in each event were accepted for competition, as events get underway on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
The Wesleyan University women's track and field team excelled at the New England DIII Championships, a two-day event hosted by Bowdoin, and finished tied for sixth overall with 48 points. RIC also recorded 48 points while Williams won the tournament with 140 followed by MIT (87.50) and Tufts (67).
The Wesleyan University women’s track and field team competed at the Fastrack Last Chance meet in New York on Friday evening and finished with 14 top-10 finishes, seven top-5 finishes and two school records.
