CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Unlike the first two days of the MIT Invitational, Day 3 was short and sweet for the Wesleyan University women's tennis team. Eudice Chong '18 and Victoria Yu '19 were the only Cardinals in action, and the pair held true to their No. 1 seed, successfully completing their run to the doubles championship at the event by defeating Vickie Ip and Kelsey Chen of Amherst, 8-1.

"It was a great way to start the season," Chong said. "We were aggressive and did very well to take time away from our opponents and finish at the net."

The defending NCAA champions lost only six games through the entire tournament, with no match closer than 8-3. Perhaps most impressive was that Chong and Yu lost only one game in the semifinal and final round combined.

The performance also gives the pair some momentum heading into the ITA Regional Championships at Williams College, which begin September 29th.

"It was a good experience to work on some things and work out the kinks before ITAs," Yu remarked.

Chong, Yu, and the rest of the Cardinals are off from competition until ITA's, where they will compete for the singles and doubles titles, which come with an invitation to the ITA Oracle Cup – the de-facto fall national championship tournament held in Rome, Georgia in October.
