Women’s Hockey to Host “Skate With Cardinals” On National Girls & Women In Sports Day

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's hockey team will host its "Skate With the Cardinals" event on Saturday, January 26th in the Spurrier-Snyder Rink immediately following it's 3:00 p.m. "Pink in the Rink" contest against Bowdoin.

The Cardinals will skate with fans at the conclusion of the game and will be available to sign team photos, which will be provided. There is no sign-up for this event, but fans are asked to bring their own skates. While fans of all ages and gender are welcome, we are encouraging girls and women to participate in honor of National Girls & Women in Sports Day which also takes place on Saturday in the Freeman Athletic Center.

Saturday's women's hockey game will also serve as the Cardinal's annual "Pink in the Rink" game which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer in honor of senior Jackie Kilar's mother. Joan B. Kilar was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and tragically lost her battle in 2014. Her courageous response, strength to meet new challenges and desire to go on with life, left a lasting impression on the entire Kilar family and the Wesleyan women's hockey team.

This year, the first 150 fans will receive a "Cards vs. Cancer" wristband, so come out and support the Cardinals in raising breast cancer awareness.
