The Lead: The Wesleyan University women's ice hockey team fell to No. 8/9 Connecticut College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.

  • The two NESCAC rivals played a scoreless first period, with the Camels holding a slight edge in shots at 7-6.
  • Kendall Carr '19 made an excellent defensive play in the period as she poked the puck away from the Conn. player to keep the game scoreless.
  • The visitors would gain the lead in the second as Kylie Wilkes set up Anna Bleck for the goal at 6:47.
  • The best scoring chance for the Cardinals would come while shorthanded as Camels goaltender Katherine Chester went out to play the puck, but Hailey Sholty '17 gathered the puck and had a wide open net, however Chester made a great diving save to deny Sholty and Wesleyan the goal.
  • The Cardinals would put together a few more scoring changes in the third, but were unable to convert and Conn. would claim the 1-0 win.

  • Allegra Grant '20 made 28 saves in net and fell to 4-4-0 on the year.
  • Chester made 19 saves and improves her record to 7-2-0.
  • Neither team could convert on the power play, going a combined 0-11.

  • These two teams are right back on the ice tomorrow with puck drop scheduled for 3 p.m.
