HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore guard Caleigh Ryan of the Wesleyan women's basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week as announced today by the league office. Ryan averaged a double-double off 16.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game during a 3-0 week for the Cardinals.

Ryan also averaged 4.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest. In the first game of the week, the 2019 NESCAC Rookie of the Year scored 18 points, pulled in 12 rebounds, handed out seven assists, and blocked one shot in a 68-54 win over New Jersey City. She followed up with a 23-point performance on 13-of-14 shooting from the charity stripe while also recording 11 boards in a 76-67 victory against Mitchell. Ryan concluded the week by scoring seven points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out five assists, recording two steals, and blocking two shots to help lead Wesleyan past Emerson in the Championship Game of the Courtyard Tournament, 68-53.
Ryan has excelled thus far in the early season and ranks among the league leaders in several categories. She currently ranks second in the NESCAC in minutes per game (35.6), third in assists (4.6), fourth in rebounding (10.0), fifth in steals (2.6), 10th in points (15.0), and 29th in blocks (0.6).
Wesleyan is 5-0 on the season and will return to action tomorrow as it hosts CCNY at 7 p.m.
