STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Grant van Inwegen of the Wesleyan University men's track & field team earned a fourth-place finish during the 1-mile run with a time of 4:19.45 on Friday during the Fastrack National Invite at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Kevin DeLoughry was the fifth runner to cross the finish line in the 400m, clocking a time of 50.06.
- During the pole vault, junior Andrew McCracken posted a mark of 4.40, which was good for sixth overall, and senior Jessy Carrasco-Gonzalez was also strong during the event, collecting an 11th-place nod (4.10).
- Other noteworthy efforts for the Cardinals came from freshman Jay Carter (400m, 54.44), sophomore Jack Northrop (long jump, 5.92), senior John Henry Vansant (3,000m, 9:15.56), junior George Avrassoglou (800m, 2:01.83) and senior Colin Mahoney (800m, 2:04.48).
- Next on the agenda for Wesleyan is the New England Division III Championship on Feb. 16-17, with events starting at 11 a.m. on both days.
