WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's soccer team (3-8-0, 2-5-0) fell 3-0 at Williams (7-3-1, 3-2-1) during a rainy contest on Saturday afternoon.

  • Wesleyan had a chance to open the scoring at the 8:20 mark, but Alec Haas' shot was blocked by a Williams' defender, keeping the match scoreless.
  • The Cardinals had another great opportunity to tally a shot when JJ LaCorte beat an Eph defender on the right side, but his hard shot was blocked, keeping it 0-0 at the 36:33 mark.
  • Williams struck first after an initial shot by Sean Dory slipped through the hands of Cardinal goalkeeper Chris Franklin. Nathan Song collected the rebound, before burying the ball in the bottom left for the 1-0 advantage at the 40:35 mark.
  • The Ephs added another tally at the 58:57 mark when Liam Bardong collected a loose ball in the box, before tucking it inside the right post to make it 2-0.
  • The Cardinals looked to get on the board at the 75:55 mark when Andres Marx sent a ball down the right side to JJ LaCorte, but Williams' goalkeeper Aaron Schein made a diving save to deny LaCorte's shot.
  • Williams found the back of the net just 41 seconds later when Nick Boardman used his head to redirect Song's pass for the 3-0 advantage.
  • With just under three minute to play, Wesleyan rifled three shots, but were unable to capitalize as time ran out.

  • Franklin recorded six stops in goal for the Cardinals, while Schein made three saves for the Ephs.

  • Wesleyan has a quick turnaround, traveling to Middlebury tomorrow for a noon contest.
