MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men’s hockey team will take on Amherst on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. NESCAC Semifinal matchup on the campus of Trinity College. The Cardinals earned the second seed in the tournament, finishing the regular season with a 15-7-2 overall record and a 13-3-2 NESCAC mark. The Mammoths are seeded third and finished 13-6-4 overall (9-4-4 NESCAC). Earlier this year, the team’s battled to a 1-1 overtime draw on November 30th, before Wesleyan edged Amherst 1-0 on January 25th. The win was the first for either team since December 2, 2016, as the teams tied each other in the previous four meetings. Trinity earned the top-seed in the tournament and will host the Semifinal and Championship contests, as they take on fourth-seed Hamilton following the Wesleyan contest at 4:30 p.m.

Men’s Hockey Players Honored by NESCAC; Sestak Earns Player of the Year, Potter Tabbed Coach of the Year
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Goaltender Tim Sestak was named the NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Year, and Wesleyan head coach Chris Potter was tabbed Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Additionally, Sestak and Walker Harris were both named All-NESCAC First team honorees and Chad Malinowski was selected to the Second Team.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The second-seeded Wesleyan men’s hockey team downed seventh-seed Middlebury 4-1 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the NESCAC Semifinals. This was the third time the Cardinals and Panthers met in a quarterfinal matchup and first win for Wesleyan. With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 16-7-2, while Middlebury concludes its season with an 8-13-4 mark.

With the loss, the Cardinals earn the second-seed for the upcoming 2019 NESCAC Championships. Wesleyan will host seventh-seed Middlebury for a quarterfinal contest on Saturday at a time to be determined, while top-seed Trinity entertains eighth-seeded Tufts.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The No. 12 Wesleyan men’s hockey team (15-6-2, 13-2-2) were edged 6-5 by No. 11 Trinity in Friday night’s showdown between the first-ranked Cardinals and the second-ranked Bantams (15-3-2, 11-2-4). With the loss, the number one seed for the upcoming NESCAC tournament will be decided when the two teams square off again tomorrow, this time at Trinity.
