Cardinals Skate to 0-0 Draw at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Wesleyan men's hockey team skated to a 0-0 draw against Colby (5-5-3, 2-5-2) on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals hold a 7-3-2, overall record and remain unbeaten in the NESCAC with a record of 6-0-2.


  • Wesleyan looked to open the scoring quickly, taking three shots in the first 1:25, but all opportunities were thwarted by Colby goaltender Andrew Tucci.
  • The Mules had a chance to get on the board at the 11:41 mark, but Wesleyan's netminder Tim Sestak denied Spencer Hewson's shot, keeping the contest scoreless.
  • The second period saw much back and forth action, with neither team having any quality opportunities. Both defensive units came up strong, each only allowing five shots during the frame.
  • Colby looked to take advantage of a power play opportunity at the 5:35 mark of the third, but the lone-shot Wesleyan allowed went just wide, as they were able to kill the penalty.
  •  The Cardinals had a power play opportunity beginning with 14:37 expired, but their five shots over the ensuing two minutes were all denied by the Mules' defensive unit.
  • The hosts held a 4-1 shots advantage in overtime, but neither team was able to score as the teams finished in a 0-0 draw.


  • Sestak recorded 20 saves during the contest and still ranks first in the conference with save percentage (.966).
  • Colby's Tucci made 25 stops during the game.
  • The Cardinals held a 25-20 edge in shots.


  • Wesleyan will host three-straight contests next week beginning on Tuesday when it hosts Plattsburgh at 4:00 p.m. The Cardinals will entertain Connecticut College on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Tufts on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
