MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sophomore Olivia Baglieri of the Wesleyan field hockey team was named to the 2019 Longstreath/NFHCA Division III New England West Second Team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Tuesday morning.
This year, 197 Division III student-athletes were named to All-Region teams. Each of the five regions honors at least 16 student-athletes on the first team and at least 16 student-athletes on the second team with the region's team size contingent on the number of institutions in the region.
Baglieri helped guide the Cardinals to their best season since 2013 and earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors. She concluded the season with a conference-high six defensive saves, placing her second on Wesleyan's all-time list with 13 in just her second year on the team. As a defender, she recorded a season-high three goals this year. Her most notable tally was the lone-Cardinal goal in a 1-0 triumph over then-No. 5 Tufts when she converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter. Throughout her first two years, Baglieri has played in all 30 games and started in 29 of those contests.
